Overview

West Lancashire Borough Council have declared a climate emergency and, along with adopting targets to be a carbon neutral Council by 2030, we also pledged to take more action to reduce carbon emissions across the Borough as a whole.

If you would like to read more about the action the Council are taking to tackle climate change, please have a look at the Council's Climate Change webpage.

Our new Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan 2030 outlines an aspirational target to 'reach a zero, or near zero, carbon Borough, no later than 2040'.  This means that carbon emissions from all sectors and activities across West Lancashire need to be reduced as far as practicably possible, and to achieve this, we need a unified approach.

It is the responsibility of all of us to work together, the Council, our partners, residents, communities, businesses and individuals all need to play a part.

Why we are consulting

This consultation focuses on action in our communities, which we would like to see at the centre of our approach.  We hope this is the start of a long standing dialogue between us and our local communities and residents moving forward.

We would like to investigate how the Council can help communities take action.  We would like to hear about action you are already taking and explore areas of interest where you are keen to see further action or start new projects.  We aim to pull together like minded individuals to make great things happen!

As the focus of this survey is community action, we unfortunately can't cover all areas of climate action and have tried to focus on actions we can all take individually and in our communities and that are deliverable within the role of the Borough Council.

Please take the time to read and complete this survey.  The findings will be used to progress and steer our focus in the coming year and aim to help enable more community action to work towards a low carbon and sustainable future.
