KICKSTART SCHEME

Closes 30 Nov 2020

Opened 15 Oct 2020

Overview

Kick Start – The pandemic has caused disruption to many businesses and individuals, who, through no fault of their own, find themselves without meaningful employment. Could your organisation benefit from being part of a dynamic local partnership to help your business and provide an opportunity for local young people to gain valuable work experience and employment - with financial support from the Government?

The ‘Kick Start Scheme’ is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work placements across the country for young people aged 16-24 in receipt of Universal Credit.

West Lancashire Borough Council is establishing itself as a Gateway Organisation to coordinate placements through the scheme on behalf of local businesses and employers.

The job placements should be new roles and support young people to develop the skills and experience they need to be in a better position to find work after completing the scheme.

The Government will fund 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.  In addition, businesses taking on Kick Start placements through the West Lancashire Borough Councils scheme can access a support and training package to compliment the experience the young person will gain during their placement.

If your organisation would like to be part of this exciting opportunity but has fewer than 30 Kick Start job placements to offer, you can apply through West Lancashire Borough Council.

If your organisation has more than 30 vacancies you can apply via directly through the DWP website.
